Description
A Sparkle In Your Eye is an original 20×16″ abstract bouquet painting of acrylic on canvas panel created during my Artist in Residency program at The Art Center in Dover, New Hampshire.
This painting belongs to the residency body of work, Attending To Light, where I explored how light appears in our lives ~ in the beauty around us, in the care we give ordinary moments, and sometimes as a small spark that changes everything.
Abstract Bouquet Painting Moves with Light
In this abstract bouquet painting, color moves in flashes of light. Bright yellows and greens appear like sparks while deep blues and violets create spaces for light to emerge.
Color temperature fluctuates throughout the bouquet. Warm colors appear beside cooler tones, which creates gentle visual vibration. As a result, your attention moves across the painting.
Because these colors repeat in slightly different ways, the bouquet feels lively and effervescent, and the painting appears to shimmer. The copper vase reflects light boldly, while passages of pearlescent hues catch surrounding light and create flashes of sparkle across the surface.
Abstract Bouquet Painting With Harmonious Color
Color harmony plays an important role in how this abstract bouquet painting feels. Saturated bursts of yellow and green sit within softer passages of lavender, blue, and rose.
Because the brighter notes are surrounded by quieter color, they appear to glow rather than overwhelm the composition.
This balance allows the painting to feel energetic while still remaining calm and welcoming.
Abstract Bouquet Painting That Creates an Experience
This abstract bouquet painting invites you to discover.
The eye moves through the bouquet searching for relationships between color, gesture, and texture. Thick painterly marks reveal the movement of the brush, while layered passages of paint create depth and atmosphere.
The grounded copper vase provides stability below the bouquet while the flowers expand outward in a generous arc of color. Together they create a balance between steadiness and celebration.
Because of this harmony, the painting often evokes feelings of delight, curiosity, warmth, and optimism.
It captures a moment many people recognize ~ the instant when something beautiful is noticed and a person’s eyes light up.
