I’m Feeling Lucky, 2024 Acrylic Painting on 24×18″ Cradled Basswood Panel

$900

The 2024 original acrylic mixed media painting on 24x18x 7/8″ cradled basswood.

Description

“I’m Feeling Lucky ” reflects the genuine feelings that I experienced while creating this 24×18″ piece on unprimed cradled basswood.

I was building layers of color and interest, looking for the subject. Feeling bright, I felt lucky, though I still had to figure out the focus. Was this a to be a bouquet? or maybe another one of my jars full of wishes all come true?

It ended up being both! Talk about lucky! lol

It is a fantastic piece with tons of character and grit. It’s bold and colorful, in a fun abstract way. The depth of color not only radiates but stabilizes the piece. The vessel is oversized, like the fullest moon, or the view of earth from space.

Typical of a Melissa Lea, the bouquet is abstract, the flowers appear to be floating and none that you’ve seen in real life.

As an intuitive expressive painter, painting from imagination without reference, I am as entertained by the piece as each viewer.

I photographed it in early outdoor hazy sunlight, and indoor low light with color reflections.

This piece is nice and heavy, and you can knock on wood 😉 It’s got an attitude.

I’m feeling lucky was painted during the cold winter of 2024.  I varnished it matte. The photos include samples of wood floater frames in white or gold, gold leaf, and stained wood. My recommendation is to see it in your space and consult with your framer or designer before deciding how best to showcase this original expressive contemporary piece of art.
