Description
Summer bouquets and wildflower gardens have joined the freedom to create and play with art.
This original mixed media painting was painted early in my career and opened a door for me.
A visitor to my studio was looking at my works and challenged me with her question, “Have you ever thought about covering your canvas with just flowers?”
This inspiration sparked a joy that continues today in my work of allowing flowers to appear where they will ~ they don’t need a vase, or stems, or anything to be playful and beautiful and fun.
We artists have lots of “laws of art” ~ realities we consider when we’re making our artistic decisions ~ facts of tonal values, color temperatures, etc.
But these are not required to enjoy art and to make art. Art is an expression of a human; as different as every human, is the potential for art.
The subtleties and delight in this piece are unavoidable.
Wired to hang without frame.
Exhibited 5/2 -19/2024 in Newburyport MA, to support both Opportunity Works and Newburyport Art Association in their show, Flowers.
To extend value I am withholding this from further shows for the rest of the year and will share 50% of purchase price to be donated to Opportunity Works, when this is purchased in 2024. Reach out to me! Let’s do this together! There are 2 that I am reserving for opportunity: this one and Jazzing It Up. Both, when sold, will benefit Opportunity Works, and Melissa Lea, the artist, 50/50.
