Early in my career, when I was still exploring what subjects I wanted to paint, I thought I might like to paint pigs.
Why? Because of my lifelong fascination and respect for them ~ probably heavily influenced by a book that I read again and again as a young girl, Charlotte’s Web. Even as recent as this decade, I watched the movie for a curl up on the couch afternoon. I have a cast iron pig door stopper, and a few sweet items like that scattered about my home that remind me of the sweetness of the Charlotte’s Web story.
The first painting that I sold was a pig titled Daisy’s Debut.
This abstract expressive painting of a pig is mostly acrylic paint, but there are bits of other media, you might find a sparkle in the orange/rust area. You’ll also find amazing texture and interest in the artist strokes and creative marks.
I painted this on Canson 60# paper, varnished it, and then mounted it with professional grade medium to cradled wood with sides painted a custom complimentary color. This was all then sprayed with a satin UV protective varnish. I then superglued drops in the corners to adhere the wood to a lightweight white frame.
