Saved is one in a series titled, Simple Things. It focuses on small, familiar objects that quietly offer comfort. It draws from the memory of a grandmother’s candy jar kept on a shelf and filled with pink peppermint candies that soothe a belly ache and provide the feeling of being looked after. The jars also reflect a love for collected glass and heirloom treasures: objects gathered over time because they feel good to you ~ and you want to share that feeling with others.
In this painting, jars hold flowers. They suggest the act of bringing something beautiful into a space and placing it where it can be seen daily, as an act of love. The work does not ask to be analyzed. It offers itself gently.
