After I painted it, a professional framer gallery-wrapped this large-scale interior painting, giving it crisp infinity-view sides.
At one end of a weathered table, a newly made bouquet fills a deep blue vessel. A small cup and saucer sit nearby. The rocking chair is tucked in at the table, and the room feels familiar ~ as though someone has been sitting here with coffee, choosing flowers one by one and making something beautiful.
The bouquet still feels fresh from that activity. Flowers are wild; they crowd and overlap in abundance.

Faith Within a Large Scale Interior Painting
This large scale interior painting grew like the flowers, intuitively, naturally, and in partnership with my faith.
We use what has been given. Together we make something beautiful. Then I rise from the table and carry that beauty, care, imagination, and love into the world.
The chair carries another meaning for me as well. Sometimes an extra place is kept at the table for Jesus ~ a reminder that we are not doing our work alone.
That possibility belongs here without needing to be explained by the objects themselves. The cup, flowers, table, and waiting chair remain ordinary things.
That is part of their importance.
Cocreating The Feeling Of Another Time
Cocreating is also a large scale interior painting filled with the feeling of another time.
The worn table and chair, patterned wall, flowers, and cup remind me of visits to our grandmothers’ homes. Sometimes those houses felt very different from our own ~ slower in some ways, filled with old furniture, dishes, flowers, and rituals that belonged to another generation.
Years later, we may find ourselves recreating pieces of that life.
We grow flowers. We use the old dishes. We gather people around a table. We make our own homes welcoming.

The composition of this large scale interior painting balances an intimate subject with enough visual presence to hold a substantial wall.
The bright yellow-green wall pushes against the violet, teal, blue, orange, and yellow of the bouquet. The dark tabletop gives the painting weight, while the small cup becomes an important point of recognition. Repeated verticals in the rocking chair provide structure beside the looseness of the flowers.
I build luminosity through these relationships rather than traditional sunlight and shadow. Warm and cool, dark and bright, transparent and opaque passages continually change one another.
The room feels recognizable but leaves space for imagination and wonder.
