Description
Lean On Me is a 36″ square original abstract floral painting with a dark vessel, layered flowers, aqua notes, and a lived-in sense of New England character. I painted it flat on the wall and later had it professionally stretched on a custom stretcher frame for exceptional stability and crisp gallery-wrapped infinity-view sides.

The painting feels accumulated and full of presence, like an old home, a flower-filled windowsill, a scratched table, brick sidewalks, sea air, fresh fields, and rooms that have held many seasons.
In this large bouquet, I use flowers as a vehicle for abstraction. The blooms are recognizable enough to invite the viewer in, but loose enough that they keep shifting. They are gestures of bloom, support, atmosphere, rhythm, and emotional fullness.
Original Abstract Floral Painting With New England Character
Lean On Me carries my spirit ~ it is an original abstract floral painting with New England Character. I share the feeling of a historic New England town ~ warm, layered, weather-worn, salty. The flowers feel like summer gardens against antique houses, bright welcoming doors, artists’ studios, open markets, and color blooming against clapboard, brick, and sea-darkened wood. The aqua notes add a coastal freshness ~ reflective, breezy, and unexpected.
The vessel gives the painting depth and endurance. Its dark, indigo, teal, and plum tones suggest endurance and steadiness that is rich with memory. It grounds the painting with backbone, giving the floral abundance a mature structure rather than a purely decorative sweetness.
An Original Abstract Floral Painting About Comfort and Support
Lean On Me is a painting about comfort and support, more than a painting about flowers. The bowl supports the blooms. The darker colors support the light. The repeated petal lines support one another visually. Nothing stands alone.
That sense of holding gives the painting its emotional strength. The bowl holds the flowers, the flowers hold one another, the darks hold the brightness, and the loose lines hold the emotion. Lean On Me has an overripe with feeling quality, but the structure keeps it mature, grounded, and confident.
Layered Mark-Making
My joy for layered mark-making is evident and one of the painting’s strongest qualities. I included loose washes, opaque strokes, drawn floral outlines, scratched passages, transparent veils, and thicker palette knife movement. I invite you to see my artistic decisions in real time which gives my work intelligence, presence and connection.
The tabletop carries evidence of use. The scraped whites, ochres, mossy greens, and aqua marks feel like painted floors, old worktables, weathered docks, plaster walls, and the kind of beauty that comes from being touched by time. It is not a pristine bouquet on display. It feels like something offered in a room where life has happened.
A Contemporary Floral Painting
Lean On Me is a substantial contemporary floral painting. It is confident at 36″ square on 1.5″ deep canvas. This original abstract floral painting has real wall presence and fits naturally above furniture, near natural light, or in a room for warmth without sentimentality.
The painting offers shelter, abundance, memory, imperfection, and return. It feels like a place where beauty is allowed to be full, messy, layered, and deeply cared for. It has heart, but it has backbone.
